Search
Search is how you find things in Sombra. It works across everything in your workspace — web saves, notes, and collections — so you don't need to remember where you put something.
How it works
Open Search from the sidebar or navigate to it directly. Type your query and results appear as you type. Sombra searches across titles, descriptions, content, and source URLs.
Results are split into two columns:
- Collections on the left — matching collections with their description and artifact count
- Artifacts on the right — individual web saves and notes that match your query
Each artifact result shows:
- The source domain (for web saves) or a "Note" badge
- The title
- A content preview with your search term highlighted
- How long ago it was saved
Search terms are highlighted in the results so you can quickly scan for relevance.
What gets searched
When you type a query, Sombra looks through:
- Artifact titles
- Artifact content (the full extracted text from web pages, or note body)
- Artifact descriptions and notes
- Source URLs and domain names
- Collection names and descriptions
Scoped search
Inside a collection, there's a separate search bar ("Search artifacts...") that filters just the artifacts in that collection. Use this when you know which collection something is in and want to narrow down quickly.
MCP search
The search_artifacts MCP tool lets AI assistants search your library programmatically. It searches the same fields and returns matching artifacts and collections, so your assistant can look things up without you switching to the browser.
Tips
- Search is workspace-scoped — you'll only see results from your current workspace
- Results from collections shared into your workspace are included too
- Both web saves and notes appear in results, distinguished by their badge
- Click any result to open it directly in the artifact viewer
- Results appear as you type with a short debounce, so there's no need to press Enter
